Chapter 51: Wedding Night

Night has come and the guests had left, the wedding was over and we are now to head home.

A place where I won’t live alone anymore.

I could now feel the tiredness overcoming my body, especially the small pains coming from my leg. I was standing all day, walking around talking to the guests. I was afraid to take the seat beside Lucrezia.

I thought it would be best if I keep my distance from her especially after the vows that I have given her. I made it clear to her that I won’t love her and if she expects that I would, she will only end up getting disappointed.

It’s better to break the last hopes that she has so she would stop expecting love from me. During our exchange of vows, I knew that was what she was trying to tell me.

I can’t give her false hopes. I have to act on my words and show her that I was saying the truth.

“Lucrezia left early.” Pericles told me even though I wasn’t asking.

I saw her left earlier, even though I was keeping myself busy with the other guests,
