THIRTY NINE

At school was hard for me to concentrate.

Even though my grades started slipping again, I wasn't going to have that problem anymore and try to focus.

"Lily, can I speak with you for a moment?"

I was about to leave my locker after putting a few of my textbooks inside to meet up with Effie and Clark at the Walker family's diner and heard Sydney call out to me.

I was surprised to have her approach me after telling Liam the truth about who she was, but he did say it was bound to happen. "Are you here to get your revenge on me?" I speak in a harsh monotone.

Although I'm okay, I'm not okay. Pissed. And already, I lashed out at people who didn't deserve to be spoken to like that.

"Actually, no." She grabs my arm and tugs me into an empty classroom with only the two of us as she asks. "What's wrong with you?"

I sat on a desk, rested my elbow on top, and laid my head on my hand, looking straight at the window.

"I don't know what you mean?"
