”He is gone.”

“What’s gone?”

Cecelia was puzzled. “Who’s gone?”

“Who do you think?”

“My savior?”

“Yes!”

Cecelia froze and paled instantly. “You–didn’t you say he was awake? Doesn’t being awake mean he was out of danger? And that doctor promised that he’s going to be fine. Why are you saying that he’s dead?”

“Gone doesn’t mean he’s dead,” William pinched his brows.

“Huff!” Cecelia breathed deeply. “Can’t you speak clearly? You almost scared me to death.”

She was the one who misunderstood his words!

Cecelia’s brows furrowed in concern. “How could he leave when he just woke up? Didn’t you say you’ll watch over him? I’ve not even met my savior, how could you allow him to leave?”

“He had his legs with him, he’s free to come or go as he pleases.”

“You’re right,” Cecelia sighed. “I tried my best to rush back as quickly as possible. I did not expect things to turn out this way. If I’d have known, I wouldn’t have left. That way, at least I would know who my savior is.”
