Chapter 1979

Wilbur bought a few gifts and followed the address Madam Judy gave him to Ellen's house. He knocked on the door.

Ellen saw that it was Wilbur and turned to close the door at once.

"Wait!"

Wilbur held the door open. "Madam Judy actually told me to come. I know you hate me, but what happened already happened. Besides, I…"

"Come in."

Ellen let go, and Wilbur pushed the door open. He set the gift down on the floor before saying, "I'm sorry, Ellen."

"No, don't be. It's not your fault."

Ellen wiped the tears off her face. The truth was that she knew that Howie might be her father, but he had been a terrible one in the last twenty years. All he did was hit and yell at her and her mother.

Ellen had even contemplated suicide because of her father before, and she would be dead if Wilbur had not appeared and saved her. Before Wilbur, Ellen had fantasized about running away with her mother many times.

Howie's death was an accident, but it undoubtedly freed Ellen and her mother.
