I picked Elena up at my door, looking dashing as much as I could in a crisp white shirt and a pair of perfectly fitted jeans. I felt a flutter in my chest at the sight of her, but I quickly suppressed it. I could not afford to get too invested in this. I always remind myself that this was just a game we're playing, one that might be over soon and I could not afford to loose myself in it, not again. I still had my guard up as much as I could let it, so while Elena was thinking that I was giving her a silent treatment because of our last outing, I was actually trying so hard to keep to myself, I was trying so hard not to run into her arms at the slightest discomfort.
