TWENTY EIGHT

Another day, another dreary day.

Leaving the Peters home, I thanked the lovely gay couple and Nicky's breakfast and said my goodbyes to Lily, hoping for another sleepover. I enjoyed hanging out at another girl's home. I'm glad I will be able to be a part of myself from my past, thanks to Lily.

I walked to the bus and sat on the bench, waiting for transportation. As I sat, I was glued to my phone like everyone else when someone took the spot next to me. I would ignore it, but I had to look and see it was a middle-aged man. Dark skin, dark hair with a hint of grey on the side, and he wore clothes that made me feel hotter because of the weather today; cool breeze yet warm.

Back to the screen on my phone, looking at open jobs once after graduation that accept high school diploma students and a place of my own would be better.

"Excuse me." I looked up at the man who spoke with a European accent as he smiled. "May I ask what time it is?"

I looked down at my phone and told the time. "It's 11
