Chapter Sixty

Killian volunteered to go first just in case there was a risk attached to the procedure. He was trying to keep Peter and Pierce safe. He sat on the floor, laying his back against the trunk of a tree, with his eyes closed. Lucan brought out one of his swords and gently used the sharpy tip to cut through the scar on Killian's face.

I watched quietly with bated breath, while Peter and Pierce stood quietly by my side. Sophia remained on the horse, eyes set on Lucan as he performed what I'd call a surgery on Killian.

Peter, displaying vulnerability, expressed his restlessness, clasping Pierce's hand tightly. "That looks immensely painful," Peter whispered, his voice tinged with worry. "I'm on tenterhooks."

"Don't be," I said, staring at the both of them. I passed them a reassuring smile. "All would be well."

They said nothing as they drifted their gaze back to Lucan who was now beginning to form a precision above Killian's scar.
