Chapter 9 Unable to Practice

What happened next seemed further perplexed him. The figure ahead that was emitting light orange light stopped suddenly, and monsters around her tried sneak attacks but were battered by a powerful airflow. Some slightly weaker monsters were instantly blown apart by the airflow, and even the relatively stronger ones were being pushed out far away with injuries.

Dugu Muyou only felt that part of her body was blocked somehow, which made her uncomfortable. She stopped moving her hands and let out a silent cry.

The light orange light around her gradually darkened and became dark orange color. Her body was restrained to the tipping point and suddenly got lightened. Following a cracking sound, the orange light around her went as red as blood.

"Another breakthrough!" Hua Qingyue called out in disbelief.

Hua Qingshui glanced at Hua Qingyue. Unexpectedly, Hua Qingshui walked in the direction of Dugu Muyou.

Although she was still in red rank and was far from the black rank achieved by Hua Qingyue and Hua Qingshui, Dugu Muyou was by far the only person of all time who managed to break through two ranks in a row in such a short period of time.

The sudden lightness of the body raised Dugu Muyou from the ground, and she landed gently on the ground, experiencing spiritual qi filling up her body.

Hua Qingshui cleared a vacant lot and suddenly spoke to Dugu Muyou when she landed, "This doesn't work at all."

Dugu Muyou raised her eyebrows at Hua Qingshui, knowing that he wanted to say something. But she did not ask him proactively.

As no monsters approached them for the time being, Hua Qingshui thought it was necessary to have a proper conversation with Dugu Muyou.

"Aren't you tired?"

Before Hua Qingshui could open his mouth, Hua Qingyue could not help asking.

Hua Qingshui rolled his eyes helplessly because anyone with proper eyesight could tell Dugu Muyou's excitement was no less than that of a person with a rumbling belly for days seeing a table full of palatable food. She did not look tired at all.

Looking at the brothers with similar appearances, Dugu Muyou still kept her eyebrows high while remaining silent.

"You only reached the red rank..." Hua Qingshui thought carefully about his wording and continued, "Although we are not aware of what happened to you, we've heard a bit about you..."

"I'm afraid it's not just a bit." Dugu Muyou smiled self-mockingly. Even if she had not experienced what had happened to this body in this lifetime, the memory that did not belong to her had made her fully aware that how she was bullied in the past and that the old memories were simply too bitter to recall.

Hua Qingyue added, "The rumors may not be true. What I can’t comprehend is how you can advance in ranks and make breakthroughs given that you never practiced spiritual qi before?"

This question also happened to be the doubt in Hua Qingshui's mind. However, compared to Hua Qingyue, he was more discreet, knowing that people kept things to themselves and it was better not to ask these secrets at will.

Dugu Muyou replied flatly, "My meridians were blocked, and hence I was unable to practice. Since they are functioning again, I can practice now."

Her tone was quite flat, but they were deeply moved by her words.

People's expressions changed at the thought of the sufferings inflicted by unblocking meridians. However, the girl in front of them seemed so fragile but she stated the process flatly. They were able to imagine the amount of pain she had endured.

No wonder that she could endure swats or blows from monsters since these attacks amounted to nothing compared to the painstaking meridians opening process. Nonetheless, she did not strike people as someone who just experienced great pain. Instead, she seemed excited and indignant.

"But..."

Dugu Muyou interrupted Hua Qingyue, "I never practiced spiritual qi before, so I don't really know how to master it."

That was why she had to fight at close quarters with monsters despite the fact she had achieved red rank.

Hua Qingshui and Hua Qingyue glanced at each other, and then Hua Qingshui said to Dugu Muyou, "Each family and sect has its own way of cultivation, but the overall basics remain the same. If you don't mind, we can teach you some basic methods to practice."

Hua Qingyue seemed to worry that Dugu Muyou would be too proud to accept their help, so he added immediately, "In this way, you won't get tired when fighting against those monsters." Of course, in this way, the fight scene would not be too astonishing to look at.

It never occurred to Dugu Muyou that she was not supposed to learn from others. For her, safety and competence came first. It was a good thing to learn and apply what one had learnt.

She nodded, and the three sat down in the vacant lot that had been cleared before.
