“I can’t see them anymore,” Ishida said to his friends. “They must have lost our trail by now.”
“Then we shall proceed to Del Cealus,” Phillipo declared, taking a right turn.
The adventurers soon found themselves hovering above a vast sea of white clouds. Then, a large amount of fog came out of nowhere and began circling them.
Philippo stopped moving forward and flapped his wings to hover above the clouds. The thick fog made it impossible to see beyond his snout.
“What’s going on, Philippo?” Rhina asked. “Where did all this fog suddenly come from?”
“This is it. We have arrived,” the flyi
A small gap in the clouds around the tallest mountain revealed a bright golden light. Ishida flipped to another page in his notebook and read the text on it.If what his father had written was correct, the mountain in the middle was made entirely of gold and was the residence of King Rexius. The mount was called “Nawarat,” literally translating to, “Light in the storm.”“Where...are we?” Jameck asked, breaking the silence.“At Del Cealus, my friend,” Phillipo answered coolly as he touched down onto the grassy ground.Ishida got off and proceeded to help Rhina dismount. Jameck had a difficult time getting around, as most of the grass stalks were taller than him.
To Ishida’s right was a vast agricultural plain with sheep, barley, oats, and all kinds of wheat distributed over its flat surface. To his left stood a long mining sierra with charcoal factories littered on the foot of the coal-filled mountains. These mountains, too, were man-made. After Ajens’ floating platform had been constructed, a thick layer of soil was laid on its surface. This expanse of soil was partly leveled and partly left in large mounds of varying heights. These mounds were hardened and transformed into mountains, some of which were filled with coal. When the center of Ajens was sent into the sky, the coal mountains came with it. This mining sierra was one of many
While Ishida was studying the mysterious statue, Philippo walked to a traffic pole that was attached to the ground right beside the sidewalk he was standing on.He then lifted one of his legs and pressed his hoof against a green button with a glowing symbol of a walking man. Soon, the lights at every road turned red and the vehicles slowed down to a halt.“Hurry, we have to cross before the fifteen-second timer runs out!” Philippo instructed before galloping across the zebra crossing. His friends followed at once. They headed downtown and soon approached the city’s main source of water: the Rexius Canal. This artificial waterway was no lesser in size and strength than a real river.Although it flowed rapidly, the canal was brimming wit
As the tram was about to violently collide into Jameck, its driver closed his eyes and prepared for the worst.A few seconds later, the collision came. There was a loud metallic clang. The sound was followed by the upper part of a heavy traffic pole smashing onto the vehicle that had run into it, shattering the windshield and moderately denting the roof of the second deck.Other pieces of metal littered the street as nearby vehicles slowed to a halt to inspect the accident. The tram driver hurriedly opened the door and rushed outside. His first action was to check if the child his vehicle had crashed into was dead or alive. But to his great surprise, the man found that he had
“It should be somewhere around here,” Philippo said to his friends, squinting at the extremely small numbers on a wooden plank nailed onto a barn’s door, where the house number was, by law, supposed to be written. “Yeah, this is it. Master Aram should be inside this barn.” The barn was positioned in front of a large farm with a large pond, vast rice fields, horse stables, and cowsheds. “Good day, Master Aram! It’s me, Philippo, your apprentice!” Philippo shouted. There was no reply. “Master Aram, are you in there? Hello? Anyone home?” Still no response. “He might be working in the fields,” Rhina suggested. “This isn’t good. It’s already getting dark!” Ishida said anxious
“Time to get up, Ishida,” a voice said to Ishida in the middle of the night. “Get dressed and come with me. I have something— or rather— someone important to take you to. I will be waiting for you outside.”The door to the cabin was then shut with a soft creak.Ishida sat up, rubbed his eyes, and stared at the curtains. He could see the shadow of a person standing outside, cast by the silvery pale light of the moon. After buttoning on a fur coat and rubbing some water on his eyes, Ishida headed outside. As soon as he opened the door, he could feel the cold night air biting on h
Now, let us wind back the hands of the clock to the afternoon of the day before, when Karlos Monte, lieutenant of the Medietan Land Army and commander of the Medietan 33rd Battalion was having a conversation with a messenger on the deck of an old troopship on which five hundred soldiers under Lieutenant Monte’s command had embarked. The lieutenant had received a direct order from Emperor Derisus the Third to send his forces to Medietapolis as reinforcements because the Piletans were about to attack the capital city. Lieutenant Trento, a good friend of Lieutenant Monte’s, was also ordered to travel to Medietapolis. Lieutenant Monte was about halfway to Medietapolis when the messenger, who had escaped from Medietapolis on a scout plane before crashing into the ocean and being rescued by the troopship.
While a group of soldiers helped Lieutenant Monte onto a landing craft, the burning troopship began to sink. But by then, all the landing craft were in the water.“Behold, the tide is rising! We will be able to land much closer to shore than I had expected. Listen carefully to my orders,” the lieutenant said to his men.“Fifty men will scale that cliff and attack that enemy cannon while another fifty men will cover their assault from the bottom of the cliff. You are to capture the cannon, causing as little damage to it as possible, and use it to support our landings.“The rest of you will storm the beach with me. At the same time, another force of five hundred men under Lieutenant Trento will join our attack from the northeast. We will
