Louisa’s POV I chopped, minced, mixed and stirred, quickly rolled all the ingredients into balls. Then, I put them into boiling water, and then fried them in oil to give them a layer of nice crispy crust. After that, I prepared the garlic sauce, adding cranberries and ground cinnamon powder, so it became sweet and sour at the same time. As I poured the garlic sauce on top of the meatballs, the chef’s compacted facial features unfolded on his face. His saliva was dripping from his mouth while watching the meatballs being put into individual bowls. He took up a bowl and gorged all the meatballs into his mouth. "Wait! It’s too hot!" I tried to stop him, but it was too late. The chef’s face turned red and I could see steam and fire coming out of his eyes and nose. "My Moon Goddess! This is… soooooo delicious!!!" he exclaimed in tears. All the soldiers were drawn by his voice and gathered outside the kitchen tent. I handed out meatballs one bowl after another. When they ate it,
Louisa’s POV The black wolf took me on his back and bolted. He dashed among rocks and branches without any effort. His black mane was like a waving flag in the air. I didn’t know how long we had run before he stopped in a meadow land deep down inside a valley. Beautiful flowers in all colors were scattered among waves of verdant grass. A crystal clear creek was slowly running down from the snow-covered mountain in distance. He crossed his legs and lay down on the grass, so I could climb down his back. I couldn’t walk further because my legs were shaking. I was very excited because of the ride. I fell to the ground and leaned against his belly. I looked up, there wasn’t a single trace of cloud in the endless stretch of cerulean sky. I lifted my arms. The sunlight was pouring down on my face through the gaps in my fingers. I moved my fingers. It looked as if I could catch the light. I looked up at the big black wolf, he was turning his head and looking at me. Then, his g
Louisa’s POV "Are you hurt?" I approached the black wolf and asked in a low voice. There was still the bear’s blood dripping from his mouth. His eyes were burning. I didn’t dare to walk closer. He looked at me and gulped. Then, he shook his head. I looked at the massive carcass of the giant bear. The black wolf turned away. He walked to the river and started to wash off the blood on his snout. I stood behind him and watch the blood diffusing in the water and disappeared. The black wolf looked back and he must have seen the concern on his face. He shook his head, so the water came off his fur. The water splashed on me. I stepped back in a panic, tripped over a stone and fell to the ground. He looked at me and snorted. Then, he walked to me and licked the water on my face. His breath was still of the bitterness of blood. "I’m afraid of you." I lowered my head and said, "Are you going to hurt me?" He stopped licking me. When I looked up at him, I saw a flash of vulnerab
Lucas’ POV Fuck. Here it comes again. My wolf fucked up, I showed up and cleaned up the shit. I shifted into myself. "What the fuck have you done?" I asked my wolf. There was no response. Typical. If passive-aggressive behavior was a fucking competition, my wolf would be the champion of every single match. Just as he had won every single fight in his life. I got impatient. I ripped off the red cobra’s head and threw it on the floor, letting his eyes stare at its own fucking broken neck. Fucking dog. Good for nothing. Can’t even kill a snake properly. I lowered my head and looked down at the girl. There was white foam coming out of her mouth. Her eyes were bleeding. Her arms and legs were twitching. "Are you fucking kidding me?" I asked my wolf, "I let you out for less than a day, and this is what you’ve done?" There was still no response. "I’m talking to you. You fucking idiot." This filthy piece of furry junk has already got on my nerves. "I’ve heard you for the fi
Louisa’s POV When I woke up, I couldn’t open my eyes. It seemed that they were covered by something moist. I tried to lift my arms or move my legs, but I couldn’t. Then, I felt that someone was on me. My chest was being pressed, so it was difficult for me to breathe. "I can’t… breathe…" I opened my mouth and gasped with air. My chest was still being pressed. Then, I started to feel the warmth between my legs. Waves of shooting pain started to be sent through my spine and spread all over my brain. I felt that I was ruptured. "Ah…" I moaned. I couldn’t move my body at all. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t get away. Deprived of motion and visual abilities, the only thing I could do was endure the throbbing pain. "Please… Stop…" I whispered. But that made the pain more unbearable. It overrode all my other senses and made me deliberate. "Big paw… help me… please…" I cried out in despair. The pain suddenly stopped. The heavy thing on my chest was lifted. I could
Louisa’s POV "You have to remain still. Don’t move." my wolf said. She seldom talks to me like this in my mind. "Could you come out and help me, please?" I asked. "No. The collar on your neck was dipped in wolfsbane. You can’t shift." she said. I felt sweat dripping from my forehead. Another spider arrived at my face. I gasped. "Don’t move." my wolf said. "What are they doing? Are there more to come?" I was screaming silently, "I can’t do this anymore…" "Stop panicking! You have to close your eyes and remain absolutely still. They won’t bite you if they think that you’re a rock." my wolf said. I shut my eyes and mouth closed. "The fear of spiders is a primal one. It’s an old phobia derived from our ancestors. I can’t help it." I said desperately to her. "You can do whatever you want to do. Your fear is irrelevant. It’s all inside your mind. Just don’t let your fear overtake you. Just concentrate on healing yourself." my wolf said. She was always so calm a
Louisa’s POV "Big paw! Is that you?" I stretched out my arms towards that figure. The figure jumped quickly at me. But as soon as he approached me, I realized that he wasn’t the big black wolf. He was shorter and skinnier than him. "Surprise, surprise." The voice sounded sinister, "A naked lady in the cave! Today’s really my lucky day." My heart sank immediately. "Don’t come closer!" I said, "I was just bitten by a red cobra and wolf spiders. If you touch me, you’ll be poisoned." "I have never heard of anything more stupid than that." that voice smirked, "Poison isn’t contagious, but stupidity is. But since I’ve been alone for a really long tie, I guess I’ll take my chance today." As he said, he started to approach me. I used my only available hand to press against him. "Stay away from me! My friend will come and he will rip you into pieces!" I screamed in a scratchy voice. The elephants walking into the cave seemed to notice my scream, they started trumpetin
Louisa’s POV "Little rascal. What are you doing up on an elephant’s head?" I heard a familiar voice. I couldn’t believe what I heard. "Uma?! Is that you?!" I cried out and tried to get down. The mother elephant used her trunk to wrap me again. She carried me and put me down next to a blurry figure. I struggled to get up, but I could only lift my body up with one arm. A pair of warm and gentle hands were placed on my waist and lifted me up. Then, I smelt it. The fragrance of thyme and hypericum. "Uma… It’s really you! I’m not dreaming! You’re here with me. You aren’t dead!" I cried in her arms. Her skin was soft and tender. "I know. I know. Little rascal. I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have left you alone." she said. I lifted my hands to touch her face. Her eyebrows, her nose, her lips and her chin. It was really her! "Uma, Lucian said that you were dead…" I cried, "He said you bit your own tongue and you were burnt in the fire…" "I am here, you little ra
