Chapter Nine

"What?! No way in hell am I letting my sister go to school in another country, no way!" I exploded, shooting up from my seat in frustration.

"Please, have a seat, Ms. Jones," Carlton said calmly, gesturing for me to sit back down. Reluctantly, I complied, though my defiance still lingered in the air. "That wasn't part of our deal," I argued, crossing my arms in frustration. "I never agreed to that."

"It was indeed part of our agreement," Carlton countered evenly. "And I've thought long and hard about it. I don't want her here, and I'm willing to continue sponsoring her education even after our contract ends. The school I've chosen is top-notch."

"But she knows no one in New York," I protested weakly.

"I need your answer now so arrangements can be made," Carlton pressed, his tone firm.
