Chapter 28 (part 1)

Adam came to very slowly. The strong stale smell that permeated the place where he was standing invaded his nose and caused a gag reflex.

He closed his eyes for a moment to recover from the discomfort and dizziness of the blow he had received.

The cold of the metal and the icy current swirling through the place attacked him with force. He sat up awkwardly. His movements were slowed by the exhaustion of his body and the heavy chains that secured both his wrists and ankles.

He would have liked to check the wound on his head, but he couldn't move much, as the chains were firmly anchored to a metal ring on the floor.

Desperate, he looked around. He had been locked in a cell; the presence of bars in place of the door and on the tiny window above his head made him immediately think of a prison.
