Megan sat at the piano, a place where she could let everything flow out of her and just be. Running was always good for working out her frustrations, but the piano had been something more peaceful. She'd never taken a lesson, playing only by ear, but she loved to let the music flow through her and get lost in it. She didn't always play for church, but when her dad had come downstairs the night before and told her that their pianist had come down with a stomach bug, she gladly stepped in. She knew KT was supposed to be at her place picking her up, but after the stunt he'd pulled the day before, maybe he could squirm a little. See how he liked a dose of his own medicine.

As the time to start service came, she finished her piece and sat with her eyes closed, letting the calm infuse her body. It seemed that's what her dad was doing too because he hadn't spoken yet. When she opened her eyes, he was standing
