“Don’t blame me, it was you that gambled with thugs when you knew you had no money!!” Elena’s mother yelled back at her husband.

“Really? Well, if you had trained her well, then she would have been married by now and we wouldn’t even have to worry about her getting abducted by some random thugs.” He retorted in his defense.

Chiara rolled her eyes at him. “Our daughter was not abducted by thugs, she was taken as collateral by the people you owe money. Why would you even gamble with such thugs in the first place? You know very well that he is a member of the Lupi family and yet you had something to do with him.” she scolded.

Elena’s father staggered around trying to gain balance, he had gone out as usual tonight and had a lot to drink, now he was tipsy from all that. “”Don’t blame it all on me alone, how was I supposed to know that he would come here and take our useless daughter?” He queried.
