"Clari, please." Edward's voice reminded her, and Clarice regained her senses, endured the sharp pain in her heart, and humbly greeted the three elders in front of her.

"Gentlemen, it's a pleasure to meet you!

Edward's father, too, was full of shock. He probably never would have thought that his own son would silently bring back a daughter-in-law in such a situation, and after the immense shock, he assessed Clarice from head to toe.

"This is outrageous. Marriage is such an important and serious matter, why would you do such a thing behind our backs?"

"I didn't plan to hide it from you, let alone surprise you." Edward said as he put his arm around Clarice's waist with a loving expression, and Madame Murray, Edward's mother, was also assessing Clarice. Seeing that she had a beautiful face and an extraordinary temperament, she felt somewhat satisfied in her heart. But for the sake of her dignity as a mother-in-law, she intended to strike first. So, she assumed a serious expression as
