Chapter 76

Leaving the Peony Garden, Mary felt a bit dejected. She originally thought that borrowing money from Clarice was like killing two birds with one stone. How could she save Antony and, at the same time, make Clarice understand that Nicholas loved her, giving them a chance to be together in the future? However, when she saw Clarice and talked to her, she realized that what she had done was basically futile. Telling the truth to Clarice didn't give her any hope; instead, it strengthened her determination never to give up on Edward. What a loss!

On the way back, Ivy called her and asked if the money problem had been resolved. She replied only once, saying that she would handle the issue, then hung up the phone and drove towards her home.

When she arrived home, the light in the second-floor bedroom was still on. The light yellow curtain covered the entire floor, and the light coming from inside could clearly see a slender figure leaning against the window as if talking on the phone.
