Chapter 32 Call Me Honey

Faye walked out of the hotel alone. Just as she was about to hail a cab home, a Volkswagen came to a slow stop beside her.

Faye froze for a moment as she watched Cedric stick his head out of the car window.

Cedric was smiling as he lazed in the car seat. He gestured at Faye with his chin and said, "Get in."

Faye suddenly smiled. She opened the door to get in the car and asked, "Have you gotten off work?"

Cedric nodded. "Yes."

"How did you know I was here?" Faye asked.

Cedric raised an eyebrow. "I was there when you received the invitation."

His response rendered Faye speechless.

No one spoke as the car slowly drove off. There was soft, calming music playing in the car. It should have been very soothing, but it sounded sad to Faye.

Faye looked out of the window, watching the unfamiliar buildings fly past. She then laughed self-deprecatingly. "Aren't I laughable?"

Cedric seemed amused for a moment. "Why do you say that?"
