War Meeting

I turned pale. I wasn't sure how many people knew about what I was or how many accepted it. By now, Abdiel most likely realized that I wasn't human, but even if he despised me, he still sided with Ash to save his own ass. Others, like Alpha Cyrus, might not have let this fact slide.

Ash grabbed my hand and squeezed it. "Remember what I told you," he said softly, giving me a faint smile. "You are safe here."

I nodded, returning the smile, although my heart kept its frantic pace. I looked around the room, and I saw curiosity, suspiciousness, and distrust. Would those people choose to fight on Ash's side knowing that a Nephilim would fight beside them?

Alpha Cyrus locked his eyes on me and smirked. "I knew that you weren't human. Mind telling us all, what are you?" He sat in his seat and leaned back, waiting for my answer.

Hunter straightened and tensed. I could see his muscles flex as if he were preparing for an attack. I gave him a meaningful look, and he finally leaned back in his sea
