Next day morning dawned nice and bright, contrary to the gloom and anxiety that filled Shankar's heart. Shankar knew that today was a make or break day for him as far as his survival in Allahabad was concerned. Rana and his gang were sure to target his gang now that they come out in the open for the first time, since his arrest almost a year ago. He ordered his men to lie low, not to aggravate or get in a clash with any of Rana's men, and they did it, quite reluctantly.
