Chapter Forty-Six: Where it all came crashing
Stepping out of JFK Airport, Serenity was hit by a sudden wave of nostalgia. The last time she stood beside Xander facing this bustling city she was a heartbroken, nervous wreck filled with uncertainty and child-like hope.
“Brings back memories, doesn’t it?” He murmured, watching a yellow taxi come to a stop before them even though they hadn’t hailed one.
“I’m trying to figure out if it classifies as a good or bad one.” She mused, helping him to load their belongings into the trunk of the car.
“Well, when we arrived here we had no idea what waited for us on the other side, but we were finally free.” He shrugged, opening the door for her.
