"But…"

I shoved her once more, and this time, Chloe paid heed to me and went in. I knew she was thoroughly confused, and she would ask me a lot of questions, but just this once, I wanted to protect her from what I was. She couldn't find out this way, and it would literally break my heart if that were to happen.

With Chloe tucked into the door of the club, I ran as fast as I could, dodging a couple of underage kids as they shoved their tongues into each other's mouths. There was no good place to shift here. It was all cosmopolitan. So, I did the one thing I knew would save me from myself; I shifted like a wild animal.

The process was fast, and I didn't even feel anything other than pain. I was about to scream, but I pushed it all in. There was no need to make things hard for myself. I would have to push through the worst of it. I howled satisfyingly as I went on all fours.
