Chapter 44.

Amelia's POV

Not wanting to disturb Mom, I walked out of her hospital room, shutting the door close gently behind me. I began to pace the hospital corridor, wrestling with my thoughts and frantically wondering what to do.

Do I call Eddie?

Or Mr James?

What do I say when he picks up? How do I say that I want the job I had rejected even after being begged back?

Why can't I say I want it back?

After all, it had been Eddie who rejected me first. He had said to Mr. James, in my sight, I may add, that he did not want me to work for him?

I kept pacing, while nurses, doctors and even patients stared at me with weird eyes as they walked past me. I was certain that I was a sight to behold with my sweatpants, tank top, messy hair, talking to my phone while pacing up and down.

The weight of my dilemma pressed down on me like a physical force, each step echoing the turmoil raging within me. My mind raced with a million questions, each one more daunting than the last. How had I found myself
