Chapter Twenty-Two

"I'm surprised to see a smile on your face. Where's the aloofness?" I took a poke at our last interaction where he basically brushed me off.

"You're not even going to greet me first?" Dean smirked.

"When did you start caring about salutations?"

"You're right I don't! I just thought we should be polite to each other. Don't you think you deserve politeness?"

"And have you? Always been polite to me?" I recalled a lot of Dean's abrasive way of acting towards me. I'm sure he didn't mean to come off as a douche bag but that didn't stop him from being one.

Whenever I'd look at Dean. I always saw an inexplicable sadness that remained sheltered behind his dark eyes. Whenever we'd speak not once did that dark shadow which surrounded him leave. He didn't look like he wanted to be here and honestly, it looked like there was a weight on his shoulders that could never be lifted. Even right now as he leaned against the stone wall. His shoulders seemed so tense.
