Baba was carrying me through the forests. Sweats rippled through his shirt as his breaths panted. The tweaks he stepped on rustled so as some birds flew away. It was at the dead of the night.

As he carried me, my pig tails flew in the air aimlessly. I was beginning to get so scared from the way he ran so seriously. I didn’t know what to do, so I leaned on him clinging to his shoulders innocently.

He halted beside a piece of rock, setting me down... I watched him stealthily.

“Baby, I need you to do something for daddy. Can you do that?” Baba asked.

I nodded firmly.

Baba had always told me to be brave.

“I need you to stay here and not make a sound. No matter what happens, don’t. I promise mum’s going to come find you.” He said. I watched him carefully after what he said.
