33. "The Lycan's Angry Pleas"

Olive’s POV

When I learned that Vera’s grandmother would take me under her wings, I knew I’d face a difficult time. Our first meeting in the cemetery was enough to prove to me that I’d suffer emotionally and physically under her command. Nevertheless, I could not bring myself to blame the old woman.

‘After all, my boyfriend, Vincent, took her one and only family.’

I heaved a sigh while pulling the weeds with my aching fingers that might bleed sooner or later. I worked under the sun for a long time without anything to protect my skin. I had been working under the scorching sun for hours without any protection for my skin. I was thirsty and hungry, but there was no time to stop and replenish myself. Maybe that's why the past few days had felt so peaceful. But I was grateful that I had managed to stock up on enough food to sustain myself for the heavy job today.
