Chapter 23

(Serena's POV)

As soon as we arrived at the mansion, I headed to my room, while pushing myself in the wheelchair. We just arrived from our vacation, but I came home injured. Thankfully, Marcus's leg is doing fine as long as he won't use too much force to strain it again.

And also, I remembered what he said on the island. That my job as his caregiver is done. He is not fully healed but he insisted for me to leave the house.

I grab the huge backpack under my bed and slowly reach the closet to pack my remaining belongings. While I'm at it, the door opens.

I first saw Marcus's confused countenance when I turned around, then my eyes lowered down to his hand, my luggage. Why did he bring it inside? I left my luggage downstairs on purpose so I wouldn't have any trouble carrying it down.

"Why--"

"What are you doing?" He suddenly asked.

My brows raised. Does he have amnesia?

"I'm packing," I said the obvious one.

"For what?" He entered my closet to drop the luggage inside.
