Rotimi's p.o.v

I knew I was just a step away from the death. If Jacob knew o was there he would just put a bullet through my skull or worse inflict pain and watch bleed to death.

I wasn't ready for any of that. I wanted to be alive and watch her sad face.

I still couldn't understand the kind of force that was pushing me to her room every day. My budding music career was promising, my star was shining bright. Ever since I put a bullet in Monique's head everything was flowing.

Not a single day had I had felt remorseful for what I did to her. I hoped Jocob would give me more assignments.

That evening when I jumped out of the window into the freezing cold of the evening falling ice. I had my heart in my hands. Some where from the other balcony I saw him staring at me as I struggled to make my way down the stairs of Moreno's building.

My hands were sweaty and I almost slipped and dropped from the window from the forth floor of the storey building. I could feel his eyes school me from the other end.

His dark goggles made my heart race in my chest. I trembled with fear as I tried to disguise myself as one of the joggers but he still stared at me like an eagle scanning it's prey before launching a strike.

I mounted the stairs towards where he was. I was as good as dead. He dug his thick fingers into the side of the pocket and from a distance I knew my untimely appointment with God was going to be fixed.

Jacob... The killer. As I inched closer I heaved a sigh of relief. He wasn't the one.

Victor ... The newcomer, who got signed the other day. He almost scared me to death. He resembled Jacob in almost everything he did.

"What were you doing over their, nigger?" he spoke in a deep Jamaican aceent as he blew the smoke into the air.

I looked around to scan if anyone was eavesdropping on us. I was still scared of being busted by Jacob.

"Who? Me? What are talking about? Are you hallucinating or something?" I retorted harshly satred in his crimson red eyes.

"Ooh... Okay nigger. You... "

"Look here man, just considerate on your blunt. Forget about my f**king business, right ?" I reprimanded him. I faked confidence, deep down I was nervous and scared. He didn't see the fright in my eyes, I thought.

I lazily threw myself in bed and closed my eyes. My mind was blank for a moment. My music project... Wow! I was in the final stages of recording the song I had specifically written for her.

The lyrics were deep and metaphorical. Not even Jacob could join the dots of what I was really talking about.

She was always sad though I loved her that way. Her sad face was fun to stare at. Her eyes through her sad silk and bleeding soul. I had never seen her smile before not even once.

I thought of plan to get her out that haunted room. They were definitely going to kill her soon if I didn't hurry up. I had the keys to her destiny, I thought.

I couldn't fall asleep even though I was done in. I kept turning in bed and staring at the fan hovering above me in the ceiling.

I peered through the window, the street lights marvelously illumonated the streets of Los Angeles. I plodded to the balcony, the point where I had pulled the trigger a few days ago. Her window was open, just the way I left it.

I was walking back to my room when something triggered me to check on her again. The same force that always pushed me to send her everyday.

I hastily got dressed in black and decided to sneak to her window using the same window I had used earlier. It was risky... If someone spotted me I would be dead.

I slowly pushed the curtains aside and peeped through. The room was pitch dark... I couldn't make out an inch from where I was.

I stealthily sneaked in the room and got accustomed to the darkness. Her bed was empty or I thought so. I stood there confused and perplexed again. Where could she be? Was she dead?

I was about to make a move when a move when a feint cough got my attention. I panicked ... Confused on where the cough had come from.

She coughed again and reassured me of life in the room... In the prison. I smiled in the darkness as I took a step closer to her bed.

I was not sure if she knew there was someone in the room. She turned in bed and rubbed her eyes before sitting up in bed.

"Who are you?" A weak frightened sharp voice escaped from her lips. I kept quiet, smiled and took a step towards the bed. I was enjoying the game.

"Tell me who you are before I shout!" She retorted in fear as she squeezed her body in the corner of the bed. She was literally freezing in fear and enjoyed it.

I cleared my voice and she heaved a sigh of relief.

"Why . you doing this to me! Why are you scaring me to death? Why?" She cried. The cool breeze blew the curtain and the moonlight penetrated into the room for a moment. I could see tears in her eyes... Her sad face made my heart blossom in pride.

"Am here for you dear. Don't worry..,"

"What the hell do you want from me right now?" She whispered as she sobbed silently. I stretched my hand and touched her forehead... She was sweating.

The moment I enjoyed the most was seeing her emotional.

"Am here for you dear. Am here to save you from the beasts," I assured her. My hoarse voice was a bit loud but not enough to get out beyond the concrete wall.

"I have got a plan for us..."

She raised her head and stared in my eyes before she politely interrupted me.

"They want me to marry Clemont Hill by force. That beast in human skin," she sobbed bitterly.

Clemont Hill... My heart skipped a beat. I could feel my freeze in the veins as I swallowed the lump in my throat. That name was enough to make someone faint.

Clemont Hill was the human version of the devil. I had never seen in person and I never wished to meet him not even in a friendly meeting.

"Tell me you are not joking!" I insisted,a bit tensed.

She just cried again for minutes before she replied.

"Am dead serious, the wedding is going to be in a month time. Am dead," the voice of desperation, fear and sunken hope all in one.

I heard the echo of footsteps from a distance in the corridor. At first I thought the person was walking away but I was wrong. The steps got closer and closer. She held me tightly as she panted and cried.
