Chapter 49

Daryl slowly opened his eyes, stretching his arms and legs, lazily making his way to sit up on the bed. The morning sun was already up, casting light into his room, and he could hear people bustling down the street. He walked over to the window and peered out.

The neighborhood was busy this morning, with commuters dressed in their business attire, rushing to catch the morning train. He saw the usual street vendors setting up their stations, setting up their wares for the day. Everything seemed like it was just a typical morning.

However, as he looked more intently at the ticking clock on his bedside table, he couldn't shake this feeling that he should just skip work today. As if today was different from other days. He thought about what Mrs. Valetio, his neighbor, had told him the other day. She spoke about living life to the fullest and not letting work get in the way of experiencing what life has to offer.
