Chapter Fifty

That wasn’t what made Vanessa’s jaw drop. The room was made entirely of glass. It extended beyond the building walls and onto a gorgeous glass overhang. Vanessa walked to the edge of the glittering balcony and looked up. Encased completely in its transparent material, she could see an expanse of soft blues and fluffy white clouds. It was almost like being outside as she stared up at the sunny Georgia sky.

“What is this place?” Vanessa asked with wonder.

“It was Marcus’s mother’s. She loved all things green.” There was a sadness in Nick’s voice. They took a seat on a small stone bench as they began to eat their sandwiches and fruit.

“What was she like?” Vanessa asked between bites. “Marcus’s mother, I mean.”

Nick smiled. “She was beautiful and kind. There was a gentleness to her nature, and at the same time a deep strength. She was generous, and just, but she also didn’t take any shit from the Alpha or anyone else.”

“Hmm sounds a lot like Aria, minus the foul mouth and no filter.”
