Vanessa’s P.O.V I stopped. A key. I needed a key. I held out a palm and visualized an intricate skeleton key. Ice began to take shape as the key formed within my hand. “I got it!” I exclaimed. I walked toward the door and inserted the cold clear key and turned it once and there came a click . As the wooden door swung open, a blizzard of frozen air rushed out. My eyes sprang open. “Good, Vanessa!” Arie said. I turned my icy eyes toward her. Don immediately stepped in front of her, his toffee eyes beginning to glow. “Don, please,” Arie whispered. A tornado of wind was starting to buid and it was getting larger by the second around the room. I could feel myself detaching, falling beneath the veil of protective safety, letting go of control. A frigid wind began to whip around the room, intensifying in speed and strength. Ice crept up the walls, locking the space in shimmering blue as the air around became harder and harder to withstand. “Vanessa, stop!” It was alpha Marcus's voice t
Vanessa P.O.VThere was a knock on the door and I could smell his scent even before he entered, It was Alpha Marcus. I was starting to get bored all by myself and at least now I had some pleasant company.”Do you mind if I join you?” He asked with his intense stare eyed directly towards me. I gazed at him momentarily before replying, “Sure.” He stepped into my apartment. “You put on quite a remarkable circus show today?” He asked jokingly.“If you ask me, I’d say it was really cool. Guess we have different perspectives.” I retaliated at him mocking my cool powers and calling it a ‘circus’. short. I suddenly realized how close I was to her. He had moved so quietly. Now we were only inches apart. My heart somersaulted. The air around us felt charged. I took a step back and he pushed forward, his eyes luminous. I stopped when my back hit the couch. He was standing in front of me now. His Golden eyes stared down at me. Every inch of my body burned with need. The air in the room see
Vanessa’s P.O.VSummer arrived back at my apartment an hour before our girls’ night began and thoroughly attacked me with makeup brushes and tight-fitting outfits. After telling Summer, “I am not going out in public in that,” multiple times, and trying on many scandalous outfits, we finally settled on a simple black slip dress and strappy heels. Summer had worked my blonde hair into a French twist with accented pieces hanging down around my face. The makeup was a bit more than I usually applied myself, but I had to admit, I felt stunning. Summer had chosen a far more exciting outfit which included a tiny strapless blue dress with cutouts on the side and matching blue stilettos. A knock on the door signaled it was eight. “That must be Arie and Leah!” Summer squealed. She opened the door to find not just Arie and Leah, but Alpha Marcus and Darren as well. Summer glared at the men. “No. No boys allowed.” Alpha Marcus glared back at her. “With everything that’s going on, I’m a
Vanessa P.O.VI woke from a dreamless sleep, alone. The memory of the girl from last night made my stomach turn. I showered, trying to wash off the feelings of sadness, and guilt. I changed into my training clothes, which actually fit thanks to Summer, and sat on the couch until there was a knock at the door. I opened it, finding Leah. “Darren is working closely with Alpha Marcus,” Leah explained. I felt a stab of disappointment knowing Marcus might not be around today. I followed Leah in silence as we made our way through the complex. When I entered the training room, i was surprised to see Arie and Summer already there. Summer grinned. “Girls’ training date!” “What are you doing here?” I wondered. “Aren’t we supposed to be training?” Summer scoffed. “Listen, honey, I’m the daughter of an Alpha and the sister of an Alpha. I have been well-trained.” Leah rolled her eyes. “Today we will be focusing on hand-to-hand combat techniques. In the event you are attacked and unable to use
Vanessa’s P.O.V “Relax, Vanessa . I’ll answer all your questions, but just one at a time.” Nick said with his soothing and relaxing voice. “And remember, we’re all on the same side now. You made sure of it or have you forgotten.” He continued. How could I forget that I had negotiated a peace treaty between Alpha Marcus and Alpha Ace and their packs . “To be honest, am a bit disappointed, I thought you’d be happier to see me . We shared some good moments back then.” Nick said as he glared into my eyes. “I won’t lie. Am glad that you are here but it is your motive that makes me doubt your presence.” I answered. “You know I’d never do anything that may bring you harm, I just wanted to get closer to you and this was the only way.” He admitted and I could tell he was being genuine. Nick was the only genuine friend I had made over the years and something about him always drew me to him but there was always an obstacle ahead of us. Maybe something about the forbidden fruit made me crave mor
Vanessa’s P.O.VLeah’s wolf was long and lean, nearly twice the size of a normal wolf. It walked low to the ground and was covered in solid black fur that rose up high along its back. Intimidating as the animal was, it wasn’t the size or shape of her wolf that had stopped him, it was the eyes. The way her black eyes glowed among her dark fur was unimaginably horrifying. Looking into those deep black orbs felt like looking into the face of death. It was disturbing and dark and soulless. Even I felt a chill rip through my chest as the beast approached. Suddenly my world began to spin. I had felt something similar before, back when i was taken against my will. I gasped in recognition. He was trying to teleport us out. To where? I didn’t want to find out. “Leah!” she cried. And by the time the word had left her lips, the wolf was already there, sailing through the air. I could feel the heat as the wolf dove above my left shoulder and straight into the face of my captor. The impact k
Vanessa’s P.O.V A tightness formed in my stomach, realizing I had been the one who killed him. “Though they have never attempted to breach the complex before, they’re clearly becoming desperate now. We need a way to secure our borders. I’ve spoken with Aria who believes she knows someone who can help. Aria.” He looked over at the beautiful blonde.“As lycans,” Aria began, “you all have incredible speed and strength. There is no question of how you can handle everyday threats. The Collectors have put us in an interesting position by pitting us against a magic we do not possess. It’s time we started to gathersome magic on our side as well.” Aria’s gaze fell onto me. “While Vanessa is extremely powerful, she is still a new Celestial and cannot be expected to defend us all single-handedly. I will be contacting the local covens in hopes of recruiting new Chosen to our cause. In particular, we are seeking someone who can draw wards to defend our building. This would keep the Collectors fr
By the time Vanessa crawled into bed, she was exhausted. Nick remained in an armchair in the corner of the room, insisting he needed very little sleep as a lycan. Vanessa was too tired to fight him, and sleep soon overtook her. She was running through the cave, screams echoing around her. She saw swirling white eyes in the dark, a voice overhead. “If she doesn’t change soon, she’s of no use to us.” Another scream rang through the air. Ice crawled up Vanessa’s arms, leaving behind bubbled flesh. Something glowed in the distance. A cold breath whispered in her ear, “Soon you’ll belong to me.” Vanessa shot awake, gasping for breath. Nick was on her in seconds. He planted his hands on either side of her shoulders. “It was just a dream,” he soothed. Tears streamed down Vanessa’s cheeks. They sparkled then froze in place. “They’re coming for me,” she sobbed. “I could feel it. They’re trying to get to me. He said it, he said…” Nick pulled her to his chest. She leaned into him, and cried.
