CHAPTER 3

The bright light momentarily blinded me, it's bright rays bleaching my eyes. I closed my eyes to adjust it to the unusual lightning as I tried to swallow dried saliva. My throat was dry and i was in desperate need of water. I peeled my eyes slowly and allowed it to wonder around the foreign hall filled with various beds dressed in white sheets. I was at the infirmary.

I had never been here before. Only the privileged ranks were admitted into the infirmary and here I was, laying comfortably on a hard bed. A bed that smoothened the aches in my back. Whatever happened? All i could remember was being in the Luna's chambers, awaiting more tasks... oh yes. I had blackened out. I fainted.

Who bought me here? Was the Luna this kind enough to care for a low ranked omega? She had misjudged Veronica then. If she was this kind and considerate, then she would enjoy working for her, even if it meant working long hours. Clearly she wasn't what the people of Cosmos rumored her to be.

I closed my eyes in relief. This was maximum rest i had gotten throughout the week. I had forgotten how long it was since i had last laid on a hard bed, without so much as a worry. This was a privilege and i would make the maximum use of it.

"Sit up." A warm voice commanded just beside me. Much closer than i expected. The person definitely knew i was awake. With my dried throat, I had no problem with admitting i was awake. I needed water and i could only get it if i was awake. I opened my eyes and sat up, the action causing me to groan. I felt the numb pain in my back and shoulders as i moved. I looked at the woman beside me, the tag in her uniform suggesting she being an experienced doctor.

She handed me a glass of cold water. My weak hands quickly shot out and grabbed the glass. Just a minute was how long it took for me to empty the glass. I drunk the water greedily and relished the feeling of satisfaction. I waited a few moments and caught my breath before turning to the woman.

"What happened?" It was either she answered or just ignored me. Still wouldn't stop her from asking. Either way, she wouldn't die from it any of the actions the woman decided to go with. To my surprise, the lady answered me without malice. Her expression was neutral, not one of disgust nor annoyance, a look she alway got from subjects. She truly was different.

"You fainted. You've been overworking yourself."

My lips itched to tell her i didn't have any option but to overwork myself and it wasn't by choice but i kept my mouth shut. Her being courteous didn't mean me blabbing about my chronicles. It didn't mean i was supposed to trust her too. I watched as she picked a syringe filled with a meditation before she injected me with it.

"A shot of glucose. You're malnourished too. Low on energy."

I wasn’t surprised really. Had i really been eating well these past few weeks? No. Since morning, i had been operating on an empty stomach, working my ass off without any fuel. How i have managed to survive this far, i still have no idea.

"Bed rest is advised for the rest of the day. I will give you pills for the body aches. Try and maintain a good diet, please."

Her smooth words made my face change. There was no way in hell i would be getting these immediately i stepped my foot out of this place. Bed rest for the whole of today? Good diet? These weren't on Janice's calendar. But it would be different now, right? She was under Veronica's care now. Seeing how Veronica took care of her, she was sure her life would get better, far more better. She was already seeing changes.

"Am i being discharged now?" I asked in a small voice. My heart feared the answer to that question because i didn't want to face any wolf in this kingdom. I loved this space.

"Not yet. Alpha Adrian ordered a three day bed rest for you in the infirmary. Today should be your last day. You shall be discharged tomorrow at first light."

Alpha?

Ordered?

Three day rest?

Just his name was enough to make my heart beat faster. And now he was ordering a three day bed rest for me? He cared this much for me or he was just treating me like he would any subject of his? Now that i heard his name, i recall the last bit of what happened. The Alpha had graced us with his presence in the Luna's chamber. That was when i fainted. This could only mean one thing. The more i thought about it, the more i became nervous and excited.

It wasn't the Luna that bought me to the infirmary. It could never be her. It was the Alpha.

"Alpha?" I asked in a low voice, my gaze directed at her, silently pleading for a narration of events. If she was my attendant, she was definitely here when she was bought.

I saw the small smile in the woman's face. A some what shy one. She understood. If she thought more of the situation, she made no further indication. She gave a lazy nod, her brunette bun bouncing at her nape as she packed up the medical contents in the tray.

"Yes, Alpha Adrian. He brought you here. He was livid, might i add. He didn't take well to your malnutrition, especially."

I was in his arms. He carried a dirty filty servant in his muscular ones and didn't care a bit.

I felt my heart flutter as I imagined how it all happened. I faint in his presence and he brings me here. I closed my eyes for a clearer image. Excitement rushed through my spine, my body getting all giddy at just the experienced. A show of importance. I found myself asking if he was being caring because of the earlier intimacy that happened between us when the doors swinged open, a royal guard everyone knew in this kingdom, Beta Thomas along with Alpha Adrian, walk purposefully into the infirmary.

I blinked furiously, taking in the image in front of of my eyes but it didn't go away. It was indeed the Alpha, walking with determination, his sharp gaze on my weak frame on the bed, his lips in a straight line and a beautifuk frown adorning his features.

The Alpha never looked sexier.
