Chapter 40

Monica's pov

While in exile

"Set up. What do you mean by set up?" the dealer growls.

"Someone must have set me up; I cannot commit that type of crime; I was not the one that did it." I said to him, trying to persuade him into believing me.

It was not easy trying to get him in because he only believes in what he sees, and he would hardly believe an inmate like me.

"Hmmm, someone set you up? I will be giving you a chance then," he said.

"Yes, someone did. I came out of the restroom and saw the guard on the ground. I did not know what had already happened," I replied.

He was not yet convinced and still wanted to take all his anger out on me.

"If you say so, then who had done it—who killed the guard?" He asked me.

I stayed still for a while as I could not figure out who could have come behind my back and set me up.

I recall that I could not hear anything after the guard that was assigned to me shouted at me the first time.

At this moment, no one came to mind, and my thoughts became empty.
