“So, explain to me why you’re here on such short notice,” Anaya said, then took a sip from her morning tea. She had already provided a room for Gabriella, and a night had already passed since her arrival. Some maids came by with their breakfast, and Gabriella answered.

“Well, a lot has happened since you left the Mortimer mansion, and I alone could never be able to explain it all, so I’m just going to give you the most important details.”

Anaya put down her cup of coffee and leaned forward. “Go on.”

“I found my mate, and for a while I thought we were actually becoming really close, but he ended up rejecting me. I didn’t know what else to do, so I ran away from the mansion so I’d never see him again,” Gabriella said.

“Oh my, that’s terrible; why would he do such a thing?” Anaya asked, walking to Gabriella’s side.

“Well, it’s a little complicated; that’s the part I can’t really explain alone,” Gabriella replied.
