~3RD PERSON’S POV~

Steven sat in his office, flipping through the pages of his grandfather’s book. He read through everything again and again, trying to find a loophole or a way they could stop the Half of darkness without harming Gabriella. He finally made it to the missing page. He stared at the page for a moment, then flipped past it and through the empty pages until he was at the end of the book.

He examined the last page for a moment and noticed a brown stain at the top left corner of the page. He brought it closer to his eyes to see what it was, and he accidentally took a whiff of the page’s scent.

“Is that… lemon? How did lemon juice get on my grandfather’s book?” Steven asked with a confused expression on his face. He thought for a moment, then turned to the candle on his table. He reached for the candle and brought it closer to the book. He turned the last page over in the candle flame and moved the book around so the heat of the candle would reach every corner.
