"No Ashford, stop! What has he done to you?" Evelyn asked coming in between them. "What is wrong with you?"

Ashford turned around and glared at her. "I see what is happening here."

Evelyn glared back at him and rushed over to help Rowan up. Ashford glared at her, angry at the fact that his mother was showing concern for someone when she clearly didn’t do any of that to him. He watched in irritation as his mother helped Rowan up and started to lead him towards a chair.
