"Evelyn? But why would she try to harm Sin?" I press, trying to wrap my head around this new twist. I know she probably planned something up but killing Sin, why would she want to kill him?

Lily shrugs, her eyes narrowing as if recalling every detail is a strain. "Look, Mae, I don’t have all the answers. But I know Evelyn hasn't gotten over Sin. Maybe she thought hurting him would bring him back to her somehow, or maybe she was just out to ruin him."

"But how can you be so sure about Evelyn? It’s a big accusation to make," I question, skeptical yet eager to follow the thread she's pulling.

Lily leans forward, her voice dropping to a whisper as if the walls themselves could hear. "I was there, I saw everything. Evelyn drugging his drink and all."

I sit back, processing her words. This new information conflicts with what Sin believes—that Lily might have something to do with his attack. Could Evelyn really be framing Lily? And if so, how do I convince Sin to reconsider the evidence?
