chapter 5 Maxwell

Mellisa walked out of the room with an air of uncertainty. She looked around cautiously as if she was expecting something unexpected to happen. Her steps were light and uncertain, and her eyes flickered around the room, searching for any surprise that might be waiting for her. She held her breath, unsure of what the next moment would bring. Luckily she remembered her way to the dining room, as she was walking she finally reached the table and everyone was already present. Riya's eyes lit up when she saw Mellisa.

" Come on dear, have a seat next to your husband," She said, gesturing to her to sit down. " Did you sleep well last night?" Riya sighed. " Did he trouble you last night?"

Mellisa pulled a chair and sat down. " Good morning grandma, I slept well last night. Thank you for asking. How about you? Was your night great?"

" Greater than you can imagine, I'm so happy to have you here. I want you to feel at home, this is now your home. If anyone troubles you then don't hesitate to tell me OK. " Riya told her.

Mellisa's eyes Melissa's eyes gleamed with joy

She felt a heat radiating through her chest, at least someone did like her on this planet and she was very happy and grateful." Thank you, grandma. " Mellisa said happily.

" You are like My daughter now, don't mind these monkeys who are busy sulking like hungry dogs." Riya smiles mockingly. " Now have your breakfast."

Zick, Liala, and Mike longer contain their jealousy when they saw how doting Riya was with Mellisa, she had never done this with them even once. They were envious of Mellisa and her luck, they wished to have luck like hers because Riya was like a stone, and she was hard to please.

Everyone ate their breakfast in silence. No one dared to say a word when Riya was quiet. As for Mellisa, she had no clue as to what her husband was planning for her.

" Welcome home, daughter-in-law, I hope we get along well," Mike said after receiving a deadly glare from his mother. He did not want to pull all his business at stake by offending his mother or going against her. She might be old but she was still a cunning fox in business.

Mellisa forced a smile, she wasn't foolish not to notice dislike in Mike's tone. " Thank you, sir."

Riya let out a deep gratifying sigh the hard work she had put in had paid off. She felt a wave of relief wash over her and all the stress of the past few weeks dissipated. She had finally achieved her goal and it was an amazing feeling, her grandson would start his own family and she would finally hold her grandchildren. Only if she knew what fate has in store for her grandson. "Okay family, I'm off to the office. See you all later." She said.

" Have a nice day granny," Mellisa said with a smile.

" Thank you, dear." She smiled. " Come on Mike let's go." She said as she started walking out.

…..

AT THE WILLIAMS HOUSE.

Maxwell stood tall and proud, his muscular physique evident beneath the tight-fitting shirt he wore. His coal-black hair was cut short, his chiseled jawline highlighted by a five o'clock shadow. His deep brown eyes sparkled with mischief, and a mischievous grin graced his lips. He exuded confidence and sex appeal, and the room seemed to take notice of his presence. " Tina, what brings you here?" His lips twisted mockingly." Weren't you the one who letf me 10 years ago because I could not fulfill your needs…. Or should I say because I was poor???? What do you want now?"

. Tina took a deep breath and took a step forward

"I'm sorry," she said, her voice trembling. "I'm so sorry for everything that happened between us. I know it must have been hard for you, and I regret the way I acted. I wish I could take it all back and make it right. I'm sorry."

Maxwell looked at her, his expression was unreadable. He doesn't say anything, but Tina could see the pain in his eyes.

She took a step forward and takes his hand in hers. "I'm sorry," she repeats, her voice stronger this time. "I know it's too late to fix things, but I want you to know that I regret my actions. I'm sorry."

Maxwell looked away, his jaw clenched. He still doesn't say a word and he wasn't going to forgive her for everything she did to him, even if he could forgive her he couldn't make her his wife again

She gives his hand a gentle squeeze and then turns to leave. She takes one last look at him before walking out of the room. Her eyes were a deep, olive green, and they sparkled with a mischievous glint. Her lips were delicate pink, and her smile was like a ray of sunshine. She had a natural, easy grace as she walked, and a gentle, calming presence that made everyone around her feel at ease. The second girl was Shina She was an eighteen-year-old girl with long, wavy dark hair, and a pale complexion. She had a small, delicate face, with an upturned nose and wide, thoughtful eyes. Her lips were always pursed as if she was holding back a secret. She was always dressed in layers, from a heavy wool coat to a light scarf, as if she had to protect herself from the cold. She kept her head down and her eyes averted as if she was ashamed of something. Her movements were slow and deliberate like she was trying to avoid being noticed. Despite her shyness, there was something fierce and determined about her. She was a girl who had been through a lot, and she was determined to make something of herself..
