CHAPTER 12

I wasn’t surprised when Mr. Caleb stopped me before leaving class. I figured he wanted an explanation for being late. I was wrong.

“I know what’s happening here. If you need help, reach out.”

The teachers were aware of Brambilla’s hatred and the reason for it, but this was the first time any had my back that I knew of.

“Thank you, Mr. Caleb.”

“Don’t thank me. I’ve offered a lifeline and you need to use it if necessary. I’m not changing your seat.”

The one thing that could help was closed to me but I already knew that. Most of the teachers and staff were afraid of my father. Even the Brambilla was. His son did not have the same respect and Alessandro had aligned himself with some heavy hitters and it made him even more dangerous.

I left the classroom and headed to my locker. Maria was at hers. After seeing the look on my face, she placed her hands up, palms out.

“What happened?”
