Chapter 39 - A Mistake

I slowly opened my eyes, and the world was a hazy blur. A heavy fog seemed to hang over my consciousness, making it difficult to sense where I was.

The room was dimly lit by the soft sunlight streaming in through the thickly drawn curtains and the soft, plush bedding beneath me felt incredibly comfortable. I shifted slightly, feeling the warmth of the blankets wrapping around me like a cocoon. My head throbbed with a dull ache, and my mouth held the bitter taste of confusion.
