Believe Me

Opening my eyes again, I wasn’t sure what I was going to find, but I was glad to see that Ben was still with me. We were underneath a tree in the forest, and my head was on his lap. 

“Be careful, Harlow,” he said, his voice full of concern. “Don’t sit up too fast or anything.”

“How long was I out?” I asked him, my head feeling woozy.

“Which time?” he asked. “This last time, a couple of hours.”

I couldn’t remember waking up before that, but I would have to take his word for it. I was dry now. That was something. I brushed my hair back and looked around. It was dark, and I couldn’t see anyone else. “Where is everyone?”
