Caught Snooping
Sam wasn’t at Grandma’s house very long, unfortunately. He basically brought the check to the door, handed it to me, my mom thanked him, and then he left, leaving me watching him disappear around the corner of the house. He’d come through the back yard on foot but come to the front door. Why, I’m not sure. But that’s what he’d done--and then he was gone.

I woke up around 3:00 in the morning to the sound of multiple wolves howling back and forth and knew there was something wrong. I had fallen asleep in my clothes again, which made it easier to get up, put on my shoes, and head outside. I have no idea what the movie we watched was about. I was paying a lot more attention to Ben than I was the people on the screen. I needed both hands for the popcorn, but I didn’t eat a whole lot of it since I was pretty full from the tacos, and then I was able to hold Ben’s hand. The excitement from the fight in the parking lot had worn off, leaving me a little bit tired and little anxious.
