CHAPTER 62: AFTERMATH OF A TRAGEDY

Maxine had been taken to St. Luke's Medical Center when she began to regain consciousness a few hours after her arrival at the hospital. "That doesn't matter as long as you got up this morning. Maxine removed the oxygen mask from her face very carefully and attempted to talk to the doctor, asking, "H-how is my baby?"

The physician sighed and looked at her with a sorrowful expression on his face before adding, "We are sorry, Ms Garcia, but it was determined that we could not rescue your baby. I sincerely apologize."

The pupils in Maxine's eyes expanded, and she found that she was unable to control her tears. But the way things worked out, despite her deep-seated optimism, the baby did end up being negatively impacted by the situation. "You are still quite young, so try not to worry so much.
