I stepped out of the creek and wore the emergency clothes that I hid around the woods and Freya looked relieved to see me looking decent.

She was blushing so hard that she couldn't even look me in the eye. We began walking back home in comfortable silence.

I turned around staring into the darkness because it felt like someone was watching us but I couldn't see anyone.

I had a feeling that it was the dark tide keeping a close eye on Freya since they failed to have her in their captive.

As a safety precaution I grasped Freya's hand and she looked up at me with wide eyes staring at our entwined hands.

"Alpha Lain, we shouldn't have done that back there because you're engaged and I feel so guilty. Your fiance might not be the nicest person in the world but you two are still getting married."

This wasn't a mistake.

I took a deep breath following Axel's advice because unlike me he knows a bit more about navigating women's emotions.

He was just a helpless romantic.
