SEVENTY FIVE

Alisha:

I couldn’t take the nightmares as well as I thought I would. I was such a weakling, I thought helplessly. I pressed my nose intonDerek’s body to inhale his scent, knowing it would calm me down. I had to take in deep breaths, and the scent of sandalwood and other mixed scents that made me feel a lot better enveloped me.

“Are you feeling better now?” I heard him ask and i loosened my grip on him, nodding, my cheeks burning so much.

I could feel his eyes on me, as I cleared my throat.

“I’m okay,” my voice was hoarse, and I knew I had to have been quite loud if he had heard me and come to wake me up. “I… I’m sorry,” i apologized without thinking.

“You have nothing to apologize for, love?” He sighed, as if I had troubled him again. “Do tou want to talk about it? Your nightmare?”

His question posed to me sounded innocent enough. Yet I faltered; his voice couldn’t hide the curiosity he felt, and that scared me.
