So. That had just happened.

I let out a slow exhale as Derek finally let me go and left me standing there by the door of the ward, hidden from the sight of anyone.

I didn’t know what to think of everything that he had said but it didn’t really seem threatening to me. Maybe I had been so afraid all for nothing? I shook my head, trying to calm myself down, and entered the wards. The warriors were murmuring amongst themselves and I simply minded my own business.

I was too busy thinking about Derek and his mother anyway.

About an hour later I found Simon seated behind his desk.

“I’m done with the checkup. You can look over the discharge sheets before I send them off,” I offered but he shook his head.

“You’re a quick study, dear. No need for me to check. Just drop them at my desk and I’ll hear to them when I do.” I nodded, and hesitated a bit, feeling the need to say something. He noticed. “Is everything alright?”
