Chapter 23 : Waterfront

Amber's POV

The aroma of breakfast climbs into the room, causing my eyes to widen from hunger. I feel myself turn in bed and grumble that Levi is gone.

Evidently, if it smells this good it's because he's cooking. Only he has the ability to make the room smell like a five-star restaurant.

So I yawn and slowly stand up, watching the sun, which rises through the drawn curtains. I pull them aside and gaze in fascination at the sea, which seems infinite through the windows. The sun is high in a radiant blue sky; the sand is so white it almost looks like snow.

"Are you coming down for breakfast?" Sophie's voice says behind me, after knocking twice and slowly opening the door.

She's wearing a rock band T-shirt and plaid pants that are too big for her. Her short dark hair is tousled and she's holding a cup of coffee in her hands, which she hands to me as soon as I approach her.

"Yes, please," I answer.

I take a sip of the coffee, which is perfect, and hold my friend's hand before
