Chapter 8: Mysterious Attitude

Chapter Eight: Mysterious Attitude

Only three days later Daphne was busy again visiting her patients. Fortunately, Doctor Cabrera did not spread the word about her upcoming marriage. After finishing her work, she received an unexpected call from her head Doctor.

"Hello, Doctor Romero. I don't know what you've done, but Director Casteñola wants to see you now."

When she answered the phone call she did not know what the reason was. When Treyton's face registered in her mind, her hands got cold. She arranged herself nervously. And then forced to be normal. She left the Doctor's quarters with a smile on her face. She is ready to greet the people she meets with a fake smile.

When she reached the Head Director's office, she did not hesitate to knock three times before speaking.

"Head Director?"

"Come in." when Daphne opened the door, the Head Director immediately looked up at her. "Oh, Doctor Romero! It's a good thing you don't have an emergency with your patients, and you allowed me to see you," that's what he immediately greeted to her.

She didn't know how he seemed to be kind to her, when he was always hot headed.

"Why didn't you even tell me that you were getting married? And what makes me happy is that Treyton is your fiance! That boy is so kind and talented, so lucky you!"

That's when Daphne finally understood everything. It's all about the wedding, with Treyton. She didn't know if she should be happy or annoyed at what she heard from the Head Director.

"I didn't know that you were his Godfather. The wedding will happen suddenly but--"

"Hey, what are you thinking?! Even if it's sudden or not, it's okay. It's like you've hooked a big fish! And you know what? Because I'm going to be raising you too. I'll re-read what you want to help with your late Father's Hope Foundation. I can approve sending some Doctors there and bring free medicine and check-ups for the children."

She surprised that she was able to fix it. She has been asking for the cooperation of the hospital she works for a long time for free service with the Hope Foundation. And now, in an instant, because of Treyton, what she wished would happen.

"I—Is that true, Head Director?!"

"Yes, of course. For my son Treyton. When I can at least make it up to him somehow. Just don't forget to send me an invitation card for your wedding."

Daphne smiled genuinely.

"Yes, you can count!"

She happily left the Head Director's office. She didn't think that the marriage would bring any good. Somehow her reason for agreeing to the marriage increased. What she really wants is to help the children at the Foundation, and now something will start to happen.

She called the manager of the Hope Foundation and told her the good news. She was also very happy to hear it. As she sat in her own chair in the Doctor's Quarters, she thought of Treyton. On how to thank it somehow.

She lost her thoughts when her cell phone rang. Unknown number registers on cellphone screen. She answered with a frown.

"Hello, this is Daphne Romero, how can I help you?"

"Hi, Daphne. It's me, your Mommy Allyson. I'm sorry and I asked your Mama for your number." she replied on the other line, causing her to lean back on the swivel chair.

"It's you, M–Mommy, well that's okay. I also want to talk to you, about my leaving before we go to dinner."

The lady on the other line smiled.

"Hija, don't worry about that. That's over and I understand. That's why I was called because I wanted to invite you to the upcoming wedding anniversary of me and your Daddy Tristan this Friday night, that's if you're free."

"I already told you, she's free!" Daphne heared a shout from the other line.

She knows who is it. It's Treyton.

"Shut up, Son. I'm not talking to you," Mommy scolded him. "What Hija, are you free?"

"Friday night..." Daphne thought, it was Izzy's birthday. "I'll update you about my schedule—"

"You're free," Treyton said lifelessly.

It looks like he grabbed the cellphone from his mommy because he is now on the other line. The smile and joy she had earlier suddenly disappeared. She lost her mind to thank him instead she felt angry again because of his manipulation of her.

She was about to speak but the call ended. She sighed then lifelessly bent over her table. Now she is stuck in two situations, which are equally important to her.

"Izzy, I'm really sorry, ah? I didn't know that the two occasions would coincide. I was also shocked when Treyton's Mom invited me." she apologized to her friend.

"Itʼs nothing! I understand! And besides I'm happy to fix you now, I'm sure many men will drool over you when they look at your smooth skin!" Izzy said excitedly.

She's now wearing a color silver simple mini-dress that doesn't exceed the knee length, she paired it with two inches sandals.

"Thank you for understanding. Happy birthday, again. My present is already at my house. I'm sure you'll like it!"

"You're welcome, and thank you too! I love surprises!"

When they heard a horn honking from outside, Daphne was sure that it was her pick-up. She hugged her friend and then hurried out. A black limousine was waiting for her, its driver also got out whose face and body seemed familiar to him.

"Good evening, Ms. Daphne," he greeted her.

"Good evening. Wait— what's your name again?"

"Oh?" he said in surprise before bowing, "They call me Storm, I'm Sir Treyton's personal bodyguard."

Daphne just nodded. She couldn't figure out why he seemed to have seen it before. She just doesn't know where and when. She rode quietly inside the limousine while thanking in her mind that he had a friend who understood her situation.

The car they were riding in entered an exclusive subdivision. Storm gave a black card to the guard of the subdivision then scanned it before letting them in. Right there, Daphne knew that only rich people could enter here and that the subdivision's security was tight.

A few moments later, the car entered a large gate and stopped in front of a large and fancy mansion. Daphne's lips parted at the sight of the mansion's beauty. From the outside, the brightness and light of the mansion is obvious.

"We're here, Miss Daphne." Storm said as he opened the car door for her.

Daphne slowly went down while still amazed at what she was seeing. When they went inside, she immediately saw Treyton's Mommy and Daddy. There she happily met them, but she couldn't resist when they hugged her. The couple introduced her to everyone they spoke to. She couldn't remove the fake smile from his lips.

From a distance, she spotted a muscular man with a unique charisma. It was too late when he found out that man was Treyton. Their eyes quickly met and he just raised the wine glass he was holding. She smirked and immediately looked away from the man.

After a while, the couple let him go so that she could eat or drink. But she hates alcohol, because maybe she can do something else that out of her control. She only took juice while looking around.

She was quickly startled when she felt a hand wrapped around her waist.

"Hey, Baby." he whispered in her ear. It was as if electricity flowed from his hand to her body.

She hadn't looked at the man yet but she already knew who it was. She was about to walk away but Treyton quickly pulled her closer, causing their bodies to touch.

"My relatives and friends are here, please don't embarrass me, because you probably know what will happen, right?" Treytonʼs whispered again mixed with threats.

She saw two men approaching their place. In Daphne's estimate, they were only twenty-eight or older. She looked at Treyton evilly and slowly forced a smile.

"Here comes the bride!" meet a man. "She's gorgeous, Buddy!" he added as if she wasn't in front of them and even got close to Treyton.

"Of course, will I agree to marry someone who is not beautiful?" Treyton replied.

"Introduce us!" someone said.

"No need, Buddy. She still needs to talk to her Mother."

Daphne was surprised at that. So is her Mom here? And if she's not mistaken, Diane might be here too.

"Hello, I'm Ryder." the other one seemed not fear to Treyton and extended his hand in front of her.

She hesitantly looked at Treyton and saw the sudden change in his expression and emotions. His eyes were dark and glaring as if he didn't like his friend's actions. She accepted his handshake, because she didn't want to embarrass him.

"Nice to meet you, Ryder. I'm Doctor Daphne Romero."

"Oh, a Doctor?" It seems to be a magical response.

"And I'm Claude. I'm a lawyer! When your marriage is over and you want a divorce, you can hire me as your lawyer— f*ck!"

"Oh my gosh!" Daphne shouted in shock.

She didn't expect Treyton's sudden punch to Claudeʼs stomach. Daphne quickly approached Claude and grabbed him by the shoulder.

"Hey, are you okay?" she asked and quickly turned her gaze to Treyton who was now emotionless. "Are you crazy? Why did you do that to your friend?!" she asked here.

"Don't worry, Doc. It's far from the gut," Ryder said then patted Claude on the shoulder. "Heʼs just acting like that and that's how they bond, get used to it."

"Yes, Doc. I'm fine, far from the intestines." Claude said, still holding his stomach.

Daphne didn't believe that he wasn't hurt because his face showed pain. Treyton left as if nothing had happened and so did his two friends. She was left worried and confused by Treyton's actions.

"He looks like a psychopath!" Daphne shouted in her mind.
