- POV Karen Miller

The garden was my refuge, I cried like when Alaric beat my mother. I felt deep despair, having negative thoughts and desires that would do me no good.

I lay on the floor, closed my eyes, and listened to Anthony, my mother calling me, I didn't want to answer, I needed to cry, to suffer alone. My despair wasn't exactly because of the illness, but because of the issue I was involved in and with whom.

Anthony is the leader of a macho clan, and deeply disgusting in its cruel laws, subsidizing only the man, the woman is considered an object, an heiress.
