Chapter 3. Matched

Marvin, who was sitting with his eyes looking straight at the laptop screen, immediately raised his gaze when he heard the sound of the door being opened. He saw Dariel approaching him with hurriedly.

"Couldn't you have knocked first? Just startled me!" Marvin said.

"I'm sorry, sir. I have news for you, either good news or bad news." Dariel said. He sat on the chair opposite Marvin.

Marvin, who was sitting back, frowned. He straightened his back, put his hands on the table and looked at Dariel in confusion.

"What's wrong?" Marvin asked.

"It's about Lily."

Marvin immediately swallowed his saliva when Dariel mentioned a woman's name. "Wh-why?"

Dariel got up from his seat and walked over to Marvin, then whispered in Marvin's ear.

"..."

"What?!" Marvin got up from his seat and stood straight, looking at Dariel with a very surprised look. "Are you serious?"

"More than serious." Dariel replied.

"How did you find out? Did you find out the truth?"

Dariel shook his head. "It happened a long time ago. You also asked me not to find out the information that happened that night, especially since it looked like a normal accident. So, I'm no longer looking to find out what the truth is."

"Then how did you find out?"

"This afternoon I had an appointment with Mr. Darren at a restaurant to discuss cooperation between companies. When I just entered the restaurant, I saw your girlfriend, Fanny. She was sitting alone. I was going to approach her first just to say hello, but someone approached her first and they chatted.

I began to suspect the person who met with Fanny because he was the one whose car Lily hit at that time. Even though it's been a long time, I still clearly remember that person's face because I had a one-on-one talk with him."

Marvin looked at Dariel with a serious gaze.

"I listened to their conversation and found out everything just now. Lily didn't die because of a pure accident, but she was murdered!"

Marvin's hands clenched into tight fists. He sat back and stared straight ahead.

"Are you okay after hearing this?" asked Dariel, also sitting on the chair opposite Marvin. "Fanny... it turns out she's ...."

"You think I'm ruined, is that it?" Marvin snorted sarcastically and grinned. "You know clearly that I don't love that woman. I was forced to accept her as my fiancée because my mother asked me to."

"Then what are you going to do? Pay her back?"

"Of course, I'll repay her. There's no way I'm going to make her life easy after committing a crime."

"Are you going to tell your mother about what she did?"

"Tell her without proof? It's useless, Dariel! My mother won't believe me!"

"Yeah, right. Sorry, I didn't have time to record their conversation. But we can go to the person who talked to Fanny earlier. If we put some pressure on him, he'll want to talk."

"Don't forget who Fanny is. She must have calculated everything. That person is unlikely to open his mouth even if we pressure him. Maybe he would even be willing to die to protect her. She must have held that person's weakness. Before asking others to follow what she wants, Fanny must have first looked for that person's weaknesses."

"That's right. So, what should we do?"

Marvin thought for a while, his mind immediately went to Stella.

"Have you found the woman from yesterday?"

Dariel frowned. "The woman from yesterday?"

"Yes... the daughter of Jaffin."

"I haven't found her yet," Dariel replied. "After she left the house, it turned out that she was moving from one rental house to another because she was chased by debt. Damian didn't leave any money behind, so she had to get away. That made it difficult for me to find her."

"I don't want to know, you have to find that woman!"

"What for, sir? Our current problem is more important than just finding that woman."

"Just find her. I need that woman."

Dariel paused, then said, "Alright, I'll find her right away."

Dariel finally followed what Marvin said. He looked for Stella's whereabouts. However, he didn't find her easily at all because she was always moving from place to place.

"Are you going to look for a job today?" Mia asked Stella who was sitting on the floor tidying up sheets of paper, while she was putting on her shoes to get ready for work.

Mia was hired as a waitress at a restaurant. She had never imagined that at the age of 18, she would have to work to earn money for a bite of rice. She was supposed to be preparing her data for university, not working.

"Yes, my savings are getting thinner, it won't be enough to fulfill our needs. Especially since we're moving all the time, that's need a lot of money."

"I pray that you get a good job. So that we can pay off Daddy's debt soon."

"Thanks." Stella replied, and put the sheet of paper into a brown folder.

"I'll be going then." Mia excused.

"Yeah, take care."

After Mia left, Stella also left to look for work by walking from place to place. Whether it was a restaurant or a company. Until her feet were now standing in front of a fairly large company.

Esther Company, Stella walked up to the security guard and asked if there were any vacancies.

"What a coincidence! The company is looking for some employees. Just go in and wait in the lobby. Someone will assist you shortly."

"Thank you," she replied with a smile, entered the company building, and sat down in the lobby.

"There are already a few people applying for the job apparently. No problem, who knows if I'll have a fortune here. If not... well, I'll look elsewhere," she muttered.

At the same time, Marvin, who had just given his car keys to the security guard, asked to be parked, then he entered his company. He was about to walk towards the elevator, but his steps stopped when his gaze fell on Stella who was sitting in the lobby.

Marvin approached the reception desk and spoke to the woman standing there. "These are the people who applied for the job?"

"Correct, sir."

Marvin nodded. "Bring the woman who is wearing the blue dress to my office."

"Yes, sir."

Marvin grinned, then walked back towards the elevator to his room. "No need to get tired looking for you. You even came to me. We are indeed soul mates..."
