Meeting the family 2

Ali looked at Harriet, her eyes bulging like a bird of night. Her lips opened, and closed as she was short of words over what Harriet said.

She couldn't understand why Gerald's mother wanted to hurt her and the fear of having a sniper in the shadows watching her every move, and waiting for a perfect opportunity to shoot her made her heart pound.

"Why is she after me? I don't think I have offended her in anyway, and besides I am getting married to Martin and not Gerald," Ali forced herself to say after a moment of speechlessness.
